Synchronized Seed Germination and Seedling Growth of Black Cumin

چکیده
Black cumin ( Nigella sativa ) is an important medicinal plant in the pharmacological industry. It cultivated on a commercial scale, but its seeds have slow, unsynchronized germination rate. Enhancing seed crucial for improving production of black cumin. The influence presowing treatments [gibberellic acid (GA 3 ), potassium nitrate, salicylic acid, and stratification at 4 °C] was assessed. Seed determined daily 30 days, parameters, including final percentage (FGP), corrected rate, number days to reach 50% FGP, seedling length vigor index, were evaluated. Endogenous contents GA abscisic (ABA) nonstratified stratified estimated using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) growth 45-day-old seedlings. All tended boost early first 10 compared with control. Low concentrations 0.25 g·L −1 also increased FGP (80%) control group (65.55%). Stratification weeks provided greatest value 95.56%, proved be most effective treatment optimal growth. Sodium dodecyl sulphate–polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis patterns revealed alteration intensities 13 bands appearance new band (180 kDa) indicating change synthesis proteins during stratification. Moreover, modulated endogenous ABA seeds, which alleviated physiological dormancy resulted high synchronized germination.

The experiment was conducted in the Agronomy Laboratory of Agrotechnology Discipline, Khulna University, Khulna from 29th August to 17th September, 2009. The experiment was laid out in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with two factors and three replications. The aim of the experiment was to study the efficacy of three osmopriming agents viz ., NaCl, KC1 and CaCb with control on seed germina...
متن کاملImpact of osmotic stress on seed germination and seedling growth in black gram (Phaseolus mungo).
An experiment was conducted to see the impact of osmotic stress as it is one of the main cause in various soil and water disorders in agricultural field crops, speciallythe seed germination and seedling growth. The osmotic stress was generated using PEG-6000 and the seed germination, seedling growth were evaluated including the status of pigments i.e. chlorophyll (a, b and total), total caroten...
متن کاملInhibitory effects of monoterpenes on seed germination and seedling growth.
Monoterpenes, the chemical constituents of essential oils found in plants, are known biologically active compounds. The present study was conducted to investigate the inhibitory effects of 30 monoterpenes including monoterpene hydrocarbons and oxygenated monoterpenes on seed germination and seedling growth of Amaranthus retroflexus, Chenopodium album and Rumex crispus under laboratory condition...

In order to study the germination and growth of pepper seeds, a factorial experiment based on a completely randomized design with three replications was conducted. The first factor was consisting of five cultivars of pepper (Marquiza, Cadia, California Wonder, California Wonder 310 and California Wonder 300) and the second factor was gibberellic acid with three levels (0 as control, 250 and 500...
